Propuesta finalista del concurso para la rehabilitación y dotación de nuevos usos del frontón Beti Jai en Madrid.
Partiendo de una solución de cubrición ligera sobre el espacio del frontón a modo de ‘Velarium’ romano, se plantea un ´Muro equipado´
que puede recoger multitud de prestaciones, dotando al conjunto de una flexibilidad y posibilidades muy reseñables.
Además del uso principal como frontón, el espacio central se entiende como un ágora susceptible de albergar distintos usos deportivos y de ocio
sin cuestionar la integridad del edifico.
Se trabaja con la idea de ‘Muro equipado’ y se exploran distintas configuraciones y posibilidades.
Se dota a la crujía principal que configura la fachada principal a la calle Marques de Riscal del carácter público y representativo que creemos el edificio ha de enfatizar.
Se ordenan las circulaciones y la jerarquización de los distintos espacios del edificio, cumpliendo con la normativa de incendios y de evacuación.
Se pretende insuflar al viejo edifico de la vitalidad y dinamismo necesario para que vuelva a brillar con luz propia.
A finalist in the architectural competition to renovate and provide new uses for the Beti Jai pelota court in Madrid.
Starting with a light coverage solution over the pelota court area, in the style of a Roman velarium, the design proposes a ‘modular wall’ with a wide range of features, providing the area with flexibility and a range of different possibilities.
As well as being mainly used as a pelota court, the central space is conceived as a main square where a range of different sporting and leisure events may be held, while maintaining the building’s integrity.
The idea of the ‘modular wall’ was developed with an examination of different configurations and possibilities.
The main gallery, which constitutes the main facade onto Calle Marques de Riscal, maintains the character and emblematic nature we believe such a building requires.
The circulation and hierarchy of the building’s different spaces are organised in line with fire safety and evacuation regulations.
The aim with this plan is to invigorate and breathe the necessary life into the old building so it shines more brightly than ever.
